Where the music comes from
Every track on SongGems is streamed live from Jamendo via its official public API — a catalog of independent artists who chose to publish their music under Creative Commons licenses. Nothing is uploaded, rehosted or hidden: what you hear is exactly what the artist released.
Attribution is built in: each card and the player bar show the exact license (for example CC BY 3.0) and link to its full text, plus the artist's page on Jamendo. By default the site only surfaces BY / BY-SA / CC0 music — tracks marked NC (non-commercial) stay hidden unless you turn them on in settings, so the library stays safe for any future use.
FAQ
Where does the music come from?
Every track is streamed from Jamendo through its official public API. All of it is released under Creative Commons licenses by the artists themselves.
Is it legal and free?
Yes. Creative Commons licenses explicitly allow free streaming and sharing. The exact license of each track — and a link to its full text — is shown in the player and on every card.
Can I use these tracks in my own videos?
Usually yes, with attribution. BY / BY-SA tracks allow any use with credit; NC tracks exclude commercial use. Always check the license page linked on each track before publishing.
Do I need an account?
No. Favorites and playlists live in your browser's local storage — nothing is uploaded and no account exists.
Why can't I find mainstream commercial artists?
The library is deliberately independent and Creative Commons only — that is exactly what makes the site simple, ad-free and 100% legal.
